As leaders of the Senate, you have a special role to play in keeping our children safe from online harms. But unfortunately, Big Tech is trying to take your job away from you. A Meta official recently claimed it was too late to pass KOSA this Congress. But it’s not too late — KOSA will pass right now when you give it a floor vote. And Meta doesn’t get to write the rules for kids’ safety. You do. You have the power to give families the true online protections they need by advancing KOSA this month. I urge you to do so!
The Senate version of KOSA is the gold standard of children’s online safety legislation. By imposing a duty of care requiring online platforms to design for kids’ health and wellbeing, the bill would offer the strongest protections for children online of any new law in nearly 30 years.
Our children deserve nothing less than the strongest protections from Big Tech’s greed and deadly product design.
