Transparency, Real Time Notification, and Answers for Beaver County!

Beaver County Commissioners

Rustbelt Mayberry Photography

On June 8th over 50 Beaver County residents and regional allies attended the Beaver County Commissioner's public meeting and posed three asks centered on emergency notification and information. After eight months of pollution, illegal emissions, and chemical releases from the Shell Plastic Plant and the ongoing crisis of the Norfolk Southern train derailment residents are demanding transparency and action.

At the meeting the commissioners committed to future dialogue around these three requests but they also continued to push the responsibility onto other regulator agencies or officials.

Help us keep up the pressure on the commissioners and keep Beaver County residents safe and informed!

Dear Commissioners Camp, Manning, and Amadio,

Over 70,000 residents and allies have signed a petition calling on Shell to meet 6 asks for transparency and accountability. Now residents are calling on you to do more. I urge you to meet the three asks below presented by residents at the June 8 Beaver County Commissioner's public meeting.

1. Commit to having real-time notifications of emissions exceedances by August 2023 and a well-functioning emergency management plan in place by November 2023.

2. Commit to calling on the state to halt polluting operations at the plant if Shell has 10 more violations.

3. Commit to hosting a town hall where community members can ask questions of relevant personnel openly and publicly about Shell and the County’s emergency response and emergency notification plans no later than July 14th 2023.
