UC Berkeley, Drop Flock!

Seamus Wilmot, Assistant Vice Chancellor & Executive Director, UC Berkeley

UC Berkeley is currently running a pilot program with Flock Safety, using a total of six (6) cameras to surveil student housing. These surveillance systems are actively sharing data with 208 police departments across the state, and other UC system schools have been exposed for sharing data with ICE without the student body's knowledge. Additionally, these cameras constantly surveilling students could be accessible to even more third-party groups, as Flock Safety has an egregious record of both privacy and security breaches. If we don't speak out against it, this program will likely expand across campus and other UC Berkeley properties. Join us in calling on UC Berkeley to cancel this contract and to publicly commit to never surveil its students.

As UC Berkeley students, workers, and community members, we call on you to end this pilot program with Flock Safety to keep our campus community safe. UC Berkeley must commit to cutting ties with Flock and peer companies that endanger the most vulnerable within our community.
