University of Pittsburgh, Drop ICE's Corporate Enablers!

University of Pittsburgh Administrators

ICE operations have escalated across the country and threaten many of our immigrant and POC neighbors. The University of Pittsburgh is complicit in the open assault against immigrant communities through its business with corporations that are pivotal to ICE's operations and the lack of proper safety precautions for students, faculty, and staff. While ICE continues to attack, kidnap, and deport our neighbors, the University of Pittsburgh has stayed silent and continues it's on-going business with corporate enablers.

The students, faculty, and staff at Pitt are appalled by ICE’s trampling upon the human rights of communities across our country, and we refuse to stand by as our school continues to be complicit in this assault. We call on the University of Pittsburgh to end all contracts and deals with ICE-enabling companies and implement the proper safety procedures to protect our community by May 1, 2026.

We, as students, faculty, and staff are appalled by ICE’s trampling upon the human rights of communities across our country. We refuse to stand by as our school continues to be complicit in this assault by doing business with corporations that are pivotal to ICE’s operations and enable ICE operations in the Pittsburgh community. The University of Pittsburgh community stands strong in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors and demands the following efforts be taken by the university to protect its community:

1. End all corporate contracts that aid ICE operations, including, but not limited to, Enterprise, the primary provider of ICE’s vehicles; Hilton, which houses ICE’s agents; and Anthony Travel, who partners with ICE.

2. Implement alerts for possible ICE presence on Pitt's Emergency Notification Service (ENS) and pledge not to engage in further surveillance of our campus community in service of ICE.

3. Designate multiple safe, locked areas on campus where ICE can be denied entry without a valid judicial warrant.

4. Partner with immigrant and legal justice organizations to implement Know Your Rights training for students, faculty, and staff. For Faculty and Staff, these trainings should include information on FERPA’s limitations on sharing student data, any sanctuary requirements not to release information, and what to do if confronted by ICE or other federal agents on campus.

We call on the University to end all contracts with ICE-enabling companies and implement protective procedures for students and faculty by May 1, 2026. The University of Pittsburgh has a responsibility to listen to and protect its community, and we urge the administration to fulfill its promise. The university must take the necessary steps to affirm the right of immigrant students and faculty to safety on campus. We do not want our tuition money to fund an operation that directly threatens so many members of our Pitt community. We stand in solidarity with our immigrant community and demand the University of Pittsburgh administration take action in line with its community's values!
