The Charter of St. Louis City has become outdated since it was written in 1914, creating dysfunction and a lack of transparency and accountability. We believe St. Louisans must play an active role in updating our Charter to modernize our city and benefit all residents.

A better Charter would:
• Improve services for neighborhoods
• Hold officials accountable
• Protect voting rights
• Increase transparency in City government

We urge the BoA and the Mayor to let St. Louisans vote on charter changes in November 2024 with these guidelines:
• Improves residents’ lives
• Has demonstrated community support
• Has concise and readable ballot language
• Lays the groundwork for additional, meaningful changes driven by City residents

Let’s work together and show that our City can improve itself. Let’s make St. Louis better for people living here, our children, and all future generations.
