Urge National City Council to Pass Rent Control for Mobile Home Tenants

National City Council Members

San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP) is a nonpartisan, multi-faith federation of congregations across the County, serving more than 70,000 families. We build community power by training grassroots leaders to organize and advocate for a better quality of life for all families in their neighborhoods. SDOP and our member congregations are committed to affordable housing for all people, combating homelessness, and protecting the rights of tenants. Our decades-long work in San Diego County has and will continue to protect existing affordable housing units, and advocate for homelessness prevention services and policies that create more housing for marginalized individuals.

Residents at Keystone Trailer Park in National City are facing increased rent and additional fees for parking and other utility bills, averaging to a 30% increase, making their mobile home unaffordable. Many of the residents and mobile home owners, who rent the land from the Keystone Trailer Park property management, are low-income renters and worry that they are being unfairly pushed out of their homes. With the rising cost of living in the region, nearly 250 residents are at risk of housing insecurity and homelessness. We are asking the National City City Council to pass a rent control ordinance for mobile home tenants, immediately.

As community members across the County, we urge National City Council members to support the plight of the Keystone Trailer Park residents and work together with them to address the challenges they are facing. Together, we can create equitable policies that protect mobile home residents and ensure housing security for all.
