Jack has spent 3 years as a technical systems and operations manager in Advancement at UTS. Over this time he has worked hard to build a motivated and high-performing team, contributing greatly to the success of the unit.

When Jack insisted on his right to conversion to continuing employment under the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement, UTS withdrew an offer of a 6-month extension to his contract, putting Jack out of work.

Jack is an active union member and a Palestinian man who has played a prominent role advancing the NTEU-backed campaign demanding UTS take a stand on the genocide in Gaza.

Jack is just one of many people at UTS losing employment at the end of their fixed-term contracts, despite entitlement to conversion and the ongoing need for their duties.

Management are citing austerity resulting from the Operational Sustainability Plan (OpSus) as a reason to refuse Jack and other staff continuing employment. This process of “cuts by stealth” is happening ahead of 400 redundancies threatened under OpSus.

Sign the petition today and call on UTS management to reinstate Jack as a permanent employee, stop the planned job cuts and guarantee secure work for all.

- Stop the job cuts.
- Honour commitments to create permanent employment under the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.

Yours Sincerely,
