Fund the Student Loan Repayment Program
President Trump, U.S. Senate, U.S. House
Social workers, addiction and mental health counselors, and other behavioral health professionals never stop working to help those who want to get healthy. It’s not just a job, it’s a calling. But crushing student loan debt combined with low salaries is a burden to this highly committed workforce.
Thanks to your efforts Congress created a new federal student loan repayment program for workers employed full-time in the direct treatment or recovery support of patients with or in recovery from a substance use disorder. If you qualify, it can mean up to $250,000 in Federal student loan repayment assistance over six years.
To ensure the success of this program, Congress must make significant and dedicated federal investments. We have made some progress but the funding process isn’t final and we need to keep the pressure on.
Sign our petition urging Congress and the White House to fund the student loan repayment program to its maximum $25 million authorization each year. Thank you!

I am writing to urge you to fully fund the new student loan repayment program created by the SUPPORT Act to help lessen the burden of crushing student loan debt on behavioral health professionals.
This bipartisan legislation demonstrates our nation's commitment to workers employed full-time in the direct treatment or recovery support of patients with or in recovery from a substance use disorder.
It is crucial that this program receive funding this year to be effective. I ask that you fund the loan repayment program for workers who provide substance use disorder treatment with its maximum $25 million authorization for this year and every year.
