At a time of massive income and wealth inequality, Republicans in Congress are working to pass Trump's budget that would give the top 1% a $1.1 TRILLION tax break by cutting healthcare and food assistance for working families, the children, the elderly, and the sick.

Every single one of Wisconsin's Republican members of Congress, Ron Johnson, Glenn Grothman, Scott Fitzgerald, Tony Wied, Tom Tiffany, Derrick Van Orden, and Bryan Steil support Trump's budget.

This budget cuts Medicaid by up to $930 billion. Medicaid provides health care to tens of millions of children, covers two out of every three seniors in nursing homes, and provides 43% of the revenue that community health centers rely on to deliver primary care to over 32 million Americans. A cut of this size would deny healthcare to tens of millions of Americans, substantially increase healthcare costs and devastate our already broken healthcare system.

It's not just Medicaid. Trump's budget cuts nutrition assistance by at least $285 billion — literally taking food out of the mouths of hungry children and the elderly in order to give tax breaks to the wealthiest people in America.

The bill would also directly cut more than $210 million in federal funds for health services in Wisconsin affecting programs like:

• The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline;
• 988 crisis county connection services;
• Local substance abuse prevention programs;
• Community health workers;
• Access to fentanyl test strip kits;
• Peer-run respites and recovery centers;
• Local public health departments and efforts to improve information infrastructure;
• Efforts to strengthen local EMS responses to local public health crises;
• Public health laboratories;
• Wisconsin Immunization Registry;
• Regional crisis stabilization facilities; and
• Other key priorities designed to improve health statewide.
