Demand 4: Recognize the Arab Canadian Lawyers Association (ACLA) framework of Anti-Palestinian Racism

ABOUT:

Vote Palestine Vancouver is a grassroots action inspired by the federal Vote Palestine campaign, working to cement Palestine as an electoral issue in the City of Vancouver.

Our governmental and business systems are complicit in the continued war crimes devastating Palestinian, Lebanese, and Iranian civilians. Around the world, a growing majority of people are voting against representatives who refuse to end genocidal violence.

We believe there can be no electoral business as usual while the genocide of Palestinians is ongoing, at any level of government. Vote Palestine Vancouver supports like-minded voters, organizations, political parties, and municipal candidates in demonstrating their support for the Vancouver Palestine Platform.

Dear City of Vancouver Municipal Candidates,

I am a concerned voter residing in Vancouver. I am writing to express my deep commitment to candidates who stand in solidarity with Palestine and to inform you that I will only vote for those who endorse the Vancouver Palestine Platform.

The Palestinian struggle for self-determination, human rights, and justice is not merely an international issue but a moral imperative. For over 1000 days, our social media feeds have been inundated with images we can never unsee, from what has been called the Holocaust of our times.

As someone invested in the principles of equality and justice, I was heartened to see residents of New York City vote with their hearts. I believe the same will happen in Vancouver. I believe Vancouver’s leaders must align with policies that uphold universalist human rights values. The Vancouver Palestine Platform embodies these principles, offering a path forward for Vancouver City Council to advocate for fairness and recognition of Palestinian human rights under international law.

You can read more about the Vancouver Palestine Platform on www.votepalestinevancouver.org

By supporting this platform, you not only address a pressing humanitarian issue but also demonstrate a commitment to broader values of human rights and social justice. This stance can significantly enhance your appeal among voters who prioritize these issues, including myself.

I urge you to consider the importance of taking a clear and supportive position on the Vancouver Palestine Platform. Fully endorsing every point in this platform is not just a political move; it's a step toward justice and a recognition of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. Like many other Vancouverites, I will be voting with my conscience on October 17th. I hope to see your name on the right side of history.

Sincerely,
