Walgreens: Keep your word, stop funding insurrection

Walgreens

After the deadly January 6th insurrection, Walgreens pledged to suspend contributions to members of Congress who objected to the certification of the 2020 presidential election. But Walgreens has now made donations to 12 members of the Sedition Caucus—the 147 members who voted to overturn the election—totaling more than $25,000.

In the days after the insurrection, Walgreens stated that it “holds in high regard the role of government and the peaceful transition of power that is core to our democracy.” Apparently that high regard for a peaceful transition of power did not last an entire year.

The vast majority of Sedition Caucus members have so far refused to renounce their votes against certifying the election. Only one—Representative Tom Rice—has apologized for his vote to overturn election results, and Walgreens donated to his campaign before his apology.

Our democracy is still under threat from Trump’s Big Lie, the elected officials who spread it, and the 721 corporations and industry groups who have chosen to keep backing members of Congress who voted to overturn a free and fair election.

Walgreens: Keep your promise. Don't fuel sedition. Stop all donations to politicians who voted on January 6 to overturn the election and the committees that support them, call on them to renounce their votes, and rescind any contributions you've made to them in 2021.
