Tell Wayne County: Downriver Needs a Plan

The latest news that the Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge won't be open "until fall 2021, if not longer," makes clear that Wayne County is not only failing to provide the basic services its residents need in order to prosper, but even worse has failed to communicate quickly and transparently in a way that allows for residents and local communities to prepare and adequately plan for the future.
It isn't just in failing to inspect and maintain Wayne County's roads and bridges that the county is falling short, or working with local communities or other government entities to find other ways to make up shortfalls, but also in its haphazard and unclear efforts at regional development. As residents of Downriver who live, work, and invest here, it's hard to know if Wayne County wants us to re-industrialize and recreate our past, or look towards a mixed use and more economically and environmentally sustainable future.
Citizens of goodwill understand we will all need to work together to find a way forward out of this mess, but we can't do that if Wayne County doesn't even give us good information or good future plans that we can all find ways to work towards.

Dear Warren C. Evans, Khalil Rahal, and Joe Palamara,
We're writing you unhappy with the latest news that the Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge will be shut down until "fall 2021, if not longer." We feel it's the latest example of Wayne County failing to provide the basic services residents need in order to prosper, and even worse failing to communicate quickly and transparently in a way that allows for residents and local communities to prepare and adequately plan for the future.
It isn't just in failing to inspect and maintain Wayne County's roads and bridges that the county is failing, or working with local communities to encourage other ways to make up shortfalls, but also in it's haphazard and unclear efforts, where it's unclear if Wayne County wants downriver to re-industrialize and recreate its past, or look towards a mixed-use and more economically and environmentally sustainable future.
Citizens of good will understand we'll all need to work together to find a good way forward out of this mess, but we can't do that if Wayne County doesn't even give us good information or good future plans that we can all find ways to work towards.
