Scottish Labour stands at a crossroads.

The decisions we make in the coming weeks will help determine not only who leads our party, but what kind of party we want to be and how we reconnect with the communities we exist to serve.

As members, councillors, trade unionists and affiliated supporters from across Scotland, we believe there is one thing on which we should all be able to agree: Monica Lennon must be on the ballot paper.

We expect Monica Lennon to secure the nominations required to enter this contest, and we call upon all those with the power to nominate to ensure that she has the opportunity to put her case directly to the membership.

The leadership of Scottish Labour belongs neither to Westminster, nor Holyrood, nor any individual faction. It belongs to our movement. It belongs to our members. A meaningful leadership election can only take place when members are offered a genuine choice about the future direction of our party.

Throughout her political career, Monica has exemplified Labour values in action. Whether tackling period poverty, championing equalities, advancing environmental justice, standing up for public health, or consistently defending the vital role of local government, she has shown what it means to be a principled and effective Labour campaigner.

But this is about more than a place on the ballot.

Monica has been clear This campaign isn't about one person becoming leader. It's about putting Scottish Labour back in the hands of the people who build it every day. Together, we can renew our party so it's ready to serve Scotland again.

Scottish Labour has extraordinary people ready to achieve extraordinary things again. We need leadership that brings out the very best in our movement.

We believe Monica Lennon is exactly the leader Scottish Labour needs.

At a time when too many communities feel disconnected from politics, Monica understands that trust is not won through slogans or election campaigns alone. It is built through listening, organising, showing up and standing alongside people in their daily lives. She understands that Scottish Labour must be present in our communities every day, not just when votes are being counted.

She offers a vision of a Scottish Labour Party that is rooted in our values, confident in its purpose and ambitious for Scotland's future. A party that empowers members, values local government, works in partnership with trade unions and reconnects with those who have drifted away from Labour over the past generation. This is a moment for democracy, participation and renewal.

Scotland deserves a Scottish Labour Party full of confidence, purpose, and hope.


We therefore call on all eligible MPs, MSPs and affiliated organisations to nominate Monica Lennon and ensure that she is on the ballot paper.

And we call on Scottish Labour members across the country to add their names to this letter and join our call.
