We the undersigned petition the Sausalito City Council to engage the services of a forensic accounting firm to investigate certain issues, including but not limited to:

1. The recent abrupt termination of the City’s former finance director without a public explanation. (Marin IJ)

2. The recent hiring as an interim finance director an individual without a CPA;

3. Significant irregularities in the City Manager’s Recommended Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, as identified by two independent CPAs in a June 28 letter to the City Council, including but not limited to,

a. Failure to include over $1.8 million of projected repairs and maintenance to City properties for 2025-2026, as identified in a third-party asset assessment report prepared for the City; and

b. Concerns over the funds transferred from the Martin Luther King and Parking Enterprise Funds to cover operating shortfalls.

We are seeking financial transparency in the interest of public trust.
