CMP: Stop Cutting People Off

CMP Chairman David Flanagan

On April 20, utilities in Maine will be able to cut off customers who are unable to pay their bills. In the middle of a pandemic, this is unconscionable. We are calling on CMP to stop cutting off the electricity of Mainers until the pandemic is over. With thousands still out of work and a fourth wave of infections hitting our communities, this is not time to buckle under to CMP's foreign-government owners from Spain, Qatar, and Norway.

We, the undersigned, call on CMP to freeze any disconnections until after the pandemic has ended. With thousands still unemployed, and a fourth wave of infections hitting our communities, it is unconscionable that you would put your profits before people - the greed of your shareholders over Maine families. We demand that you put an immediate freeze on any disconnections until the end of the pandemic.
