We Want A Public Hearing on Gibbstown DOCK 2

Delaware River Basin Commissioners - the Governors of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware and the federal representative from the Army Corps of Engineers

The proposed Gibbstown LNG Export Terminal Dock, referred to as DOCK 2, is being considered AGAIN for an extension of the project permit despite the fact that no construction on the site has occurred since its approval first in 2019 and a permit extension in 2022. This project is obsolete and should be cancelled entirely.

A public hearing IS NOT REQUIRED for this permit extension. HOWEVER, if three or more Commission members of the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) ask the Executive Director in writing to schedule a hearing or vote during a public meeting of the commission to provide a hearing - a public hearing must be held on this permit, according to DRBC rules. The Commission members of the DRBC are comprised of the Governors of the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and a federal representative from the Army Corps of Engineers. We need three !

We need the bright light of day to be shown on this crucial decision that will decide the fate of this highly controversial, environmentally destructive and publicly rejected LNG export project. Good government decision-making requires the public to have a say, and it requires those making the all-important decisions to make a full and fair decision based on the voices of those who will be indelibly impacted by what they decide. We need to be heard!

To the Delaware River Basin Commissioners - the Governors of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware and the federal representative from the Army Corps of Engineers:

We the undersigned request that each Commission member ask the Executive Director of the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC), in writing, to schedule a public hearing or that you vote during a public meeting of the Commission to provide a public hearing regarding the Gibbstown LNG Export Terminal docket extension - Docket No.: D-2017-009-2, June 12, 2019; Delaware River Partners LLC for Gibbstown Logistics Center Dock 2, Greenwich Township, NJ; Previously Extended through: June 12, 2025.

The Gibbstown LNG Export Terminal DOCK2 project has been languishing for over 6 years since its first approval and then its extension in 2022. The public fought this massive, dangerous LNG export project for years but it was still approved. The project has not been built and the project proponents now want yet another extension of their permit despite the fact it is obsolete and should be cancelled entirely.

If three or more Commission members ask the Executive Director of the DRBC, in writing, to schedule a public hearing, one must be held, according to DRBC rules. Good government decision-making requires a transparent and open public process, affording the public the opportunity to speak up and have their input considered. As the DRBC Commissioners, we feel it is crucial that you hear from the members of the public who will be indelibly impacted by this project in order for you to make a full and fair decision.

Commissioners, please request a public hearing and listen to the voices of the public.
