Wedding Vendors' Pledge to Support BC's Hilton Metrotown Hotel Workers

Hilton Metrotown

We, wedding vendors, will NOT do business at Hilton Metrotown until the hotel resolves the lockout and returns workers to their pre-pandemic jobs.

Recently, Burnaby Now broke a story about how hotel workers staged a mock wedding at Hilton Metrotown to urge couples to “put a ring on it” somewhere else. Hilton Metrotown has long been a popular wedding destination for couples looking to tie the knot. But the hotel terminated almost 100 long-term workers and locked out the rest in spring 2021. It's been almost a year that workers have been on the picket line to save their jobs. Many of them are women of colour who worked at the hotel for 10-20 years.

But the good news is, Hilton Metrotown workers have received widespread support from the Mayor of Burnaby, BC Federation of Labour, BC’s biggest unions, and community organizations to not cross the picket line until it respects workers and brings them back to their original job conditions.

Wedding vendors can make a difference by pledging to support Hilton Metrotown workers fighting for better, safer working conditions. Sign the petition today to support BC's Hilton Metrotown workers!

Hilton Metrotown should commit to return their locked out and terminated long-term staff to their pre-pandemic jobs. I pledge not to plan a wedding, take any photos, DJ, do makeup or hair, and/or give my business to any wedding to be held at Hilton Metrotown until the hotel respects its workers by resolving the lockout and returning workers to their pre-pandemic jobs.
