Most people are shocked when they learn that those of us who earn modest incomes actually pay MORE of our income in taxes than the wealthiest people in the state. Colorado’s tax code is broken.

While many Colorado families are struggling to keep up with the rising costs of basic things like being able to see a doctor or afford a good, safe place to live for their families, the people who are getting the most benefits from the economy aren’t paying their fair share. This upside-down system that favors the wealthy and powerful has to change.

Fortunately, voters have a chance to fix this in November. Amendment 73 would increase taxes on the richest 8% of Coloradans to make sure our children’s schools benefit from the booming economy. With one of the top economies in the country, we should expect better than being 43rd in the country in school funding.

Amendment 73 will fix our broken tax code by making sure the top 8% pay what they should and allows us to invest in our communities and our future again.
