Work with WTA for a Fair Contract
Winthrop School Committee
Dear Valued Community Member,
The Winthrop Teachers Association humbly asks for your support in our current negotiations with the Winthrop School Committee. The WTA has been in negotiations with the school committee for months with limited progress.
Recent school years have been incredibly challenging for both students and staff. With millions in federal stimulus monies in Winthrop, we should be investing those funds into our schools and the educators who help serve the community everyday.
Student learning and staff development are of utmost importance to WTA members. We need community support to encourage School Committee members to listen to the voices of educators who are in the classrooms with your children on a daily basis. Please show your support for the WTA by signing this petition.

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask the Winthrop School Committee and its representatives to continue working with the WTA to reach a fair and dignified agreement for ESPs, Secretaries, and Nurses. Currently most ESPs make around $28,000 a year. For one of the most important jobs our community has, this is not good enough. We feel Winthrop can do better for our support staff, as they add to the value and lives of so many students and families each day.
We are the unified voice of educators, parents, students, and concerned community members of Winthrop. Educators and Education Support Professionals uplift the quality of our schools and the daily lives of our children. We believe that the school committee and the WTA share a common interest in creating and developing a school system based on excellence. With the federal stimulus money from the American Recovery Act we have a major opportunity to improve our schools and support our educators.
We should invest in Winthrop's future by making the necessary investments into the educators who serve our families each day. ESPs and support staff in our schools deserve a living wage. School Committee should make this a top priority.
