Workers Who Feed Fenway Must Not Be Left Behind

Principal Owner of the Boston Red Sox John Henry, President and CEO of Fenway Sports Group Sam Kennedy, and Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner

My name is Kristen Meagher and I'm a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. I started working at Fenway Park in 1995, and my husband James started working there is 1997, both as a concessions worker feeding fans at Fenway Park. It's great being part of the Red Sox family.

On March 17, 2020, news broke that the Boston Red Sox were pledging $1 million to assist workers during the coronavirus shut down. But the 1,000 subcontracted concessions workers in UNITE HERE Local 26 like myself at Fenway are hearing that we're being shut out. Red Sox fans can act now: Tell Sox owners to support Fenway Park concessions workers as we weather this crisis.

We are proud to be on the frontlines of the Fenway Park experience and champions of the Red Sox Nation. Until we're back in the stands and behind the beer taps, we need to hit this one out of the park for concessions workers.

Sign the petition today calling on Red Sox owner, John Henry, and the Boston Red Sox to support Fenway concession workers through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Let's go Red Sox!

UNITE HERE Local 26 and it's supporters call on Boston Red Sox owner John Henry and the Fenway Sports Group to support Fenway concession workers through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nothing can reopen until we tackle this public health crisis head-on. Seeking new part-time or full-time work within the food service industry is unlikely to yield results as schools, restaurants, and hotels close to reduce the spread of the virus. Seeking work at this time and working in the food service industry may also prove deadly to Fenway Park concessions workers as the virus continues to spread. Paying workers who are staying at home to help solve this crisis helps ensure no one has to face unnecessary financial burdens or health risks during this already difficult time.

Once this crisis is resolved, Boston's UNITE HERE Local 26 members look forward to going back to doing what they love; feeding the amazing Red Sox fans, and going back to serving the game and the city they love.
