At 16, we already make important life decisions and hold important responsibilities. We can work, pay taxes, consent to medical procedures, and decide careers to study or train for.
By lowering the voting age to 16, we’re allowing more engaged voices to be heard, strengthening our democracy and helping the Australian Government to make better policy decisions. This benefits everyone.
Many other countries like Austria, Argentina, Brazil, Scotland and Wales have already lowered the voting age to 16, and New Zealand, Canada and Germany are following their lead. It’s now Australia’s turn.
Can you commit to championing the #makeit16au campaign and lowering the voting age to 16 in Australia?
