Do you live in Hennepin County and care about Environmental Justice? Become part of a District Team to join the fight to shut down the HERC trash burner at a critical part of the campaign.

The HERC (Hennepin Energy Recovery Center) is a garbage incinerator that has polluted Downtown and North Minneapolis for 35 years and counting. TCDSA has made this campaign a Chapter Priority for 2025 and joined the Zero Burn Coalition, which is a group of local organizations and community members demanding that Hennepin County shut down the HERC in 2025.

The campaign is forming District Teams, groups of constituents in each of Hennepin County's seven districts, in order to pressure their respective Commissioners to set a shutdown date for the County. The campaign created Ward Teams to successfully bring forward a unanimous Minneapolis resolution supporting a closure date no later than 2027.
