2026 is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States.

It is a powerful time to hold up a mirror to the diverse electorate of the nation and expose the ugly underbelly of U.S. Empire and its foundational and continuing lies, atrocities, and destructive power across the planet.

The country is poised for resistance, revolt, and political, cultural, and economic transformation. The stunning anti-genocide movement has leapfrogged a generation or two of anti-war organizing in its sophistication, courage, and fearless action. This is epitomized best by the campus encampments and direct actions against weapons shipments, as Iraq War era organizing never developed such impressive action. Occupy Wall Street and Bernie Sanders' inspiring yet fraudulent campaigns masquerading as political revolution woke up huge swaths of an otherwise complacent electorate and shifted political consciousness towards solidarity and socialism.

At the same time, the Green Party emerged from the 2024 election as the most consistent and credible voice and vehicle for large scale political transformation. Never suckered into supporting the phony corporate, capitalist, and oligarchic Democratic Party, the Green Party has kept its eyes on the prize of long haul political evolution. It has put popular policies like Medicare for All, living wages, cancelling student debt, and free higher education on the political map, has been ahead of the curve on issues like gay marriage, drug legalization, and global warming, and has consistently fought for justice issues like reparations, land back, Palestinian rights, and indigenous sovereignty.

Jill Stein and Butch Ware provided a vital alternative vision and voice at a time when all people of conscience sorely needed one. 41 years after the US Green Party’s founding, new volunteer energy has been awakened, and for the first time in modern history, a third party presidential ticket won over an entire demographic.

With World War III looming, we can no longer wait to mount a serious battle to take down the corrupt two party duopoly and force the voices of the people into the halls of Congress. We can no longer wait to make the Green Party the real opposition party – one that refuses to take corporate lobbyist and oligarch money, and one that is capable of winning seats in Congress.

It is time to Overgrow the Government, Make Congress the People’s House, and Green the House! Together, we think we can recruit over 250 candidates to blanket the nation and build local Green chapters and other vital infrastructure to put the Green Party on the map in a serious way.
