Join us in the Main Meeting Room at the Brighton Friends' Meeting House at 7pm on 29 September to watch and discuss a series of short films made by and with student-activists from the Gaza encampments in the UK.

You are also warmly invited to join us for a pre-screening reception at 5.45pm at the venue.

Developed as part of the Cinema and Solidarity research project, funded by the University of Warwick, these films explore acts of co-resistance, particularly among students of Palestinian or Jewish heritage. Diverse and courageous, the works offer a rare and personal window into activism and cross-cultural solidarity, reflecting the students’ rich experiences and the motivations that drew them to the political movement opposing the genocide in Gaza.

The screening (73mins) at 7pm will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A.

Our panelists will be: Cora, one of the student activists who participated in the films; author, lecturer and commentator David Wearing; writer, researcher and podcaster Elia J. Ayoub; filmmaker, doctoral researcher and activist Lia Na'ama ten Brink; and theatre director Tanushka Marah, who stood as an independent on a pro-Palestine platform in the '24 general elections.

The film is produced by Michele Aaron with the interviews directed by Manal Massalha.

The screening is presented in collaboration with the University of Warwick and Na'amod.

All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to Rivers of Mercy - (n.b. not Warwick University, as this event page template suggests!).

Rivers of Mercy is an organisation that provides life-saving healthcare to Palestinian communities.
