You are invited to the Climate Defiance NYC fundraiser in Harlem.

We will be joined by internationally acclaimed human rights lawyer Steven Donziger (in-person), Zero Hour executive director Zanagee Artis (in-person) and Don't Look Up writer, producer and director Adam McKay (virtual).

Not even six months old, we are already making big waves. The leading climate and clean energy trade publication E&E News wrote: "With its public displays of opposition, the activist group Climate Defiance is elevating environmental concerns with Biden to the political spotlight arguably unlike any other group in the ideologically varied tableau of U.S. environmental groups."

We do not go along to get along. We do not sit in cubicles circulating petitions and signing coalition letters. We block doors. We blockade galas. We shut down speeches at think tanks and hotels and conferences and fundraisers and Congressional office buildings. We literally chase senior White House officials out of luncheons and down hallways. We act like our very lives are on the line because they are.

Let's come together to celebrate all we have done and raise funds for the next stage of our peaceful uprising.

In our first six months we have:

  • Shut down the main entrances to the White House Correspondents Dinner, alongside Justin Pearson and Justin Jones, the two lawmakers wrongfully expelled from the TN legislature.
  • Converged on Biden's $25,000-per-plate fundraiser in NYC with Jane Fonda, where we kicked up a storm that was impossible to ignore.
  • Shut down a speech by Senator Joe Manchin.
  • Shown up at almost every think tank panel, policy conference, and keynote where top administration officials appear.
  • Confronted Chuck Schumer over the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
  • Made the Line 3 pipeline supporter Amy Klobuchar flee the stage at her own book launch party.
  • Taken over the Congressional Women's Softball Game.
  • Confronted Vice President Kamala Harris on Martha's Vineyard.

This is working. Here's how we know:

  • The New York Times has mentioned our group, in multiple articles.
  • We have been covered by over 100 media outlets including ABC, SF Chronicle, Politico, Washington Post, Democracy Now.
  • We have reached 33,000,000 impressions on Twitter, organically.

People power is our kryptonite. But we also need some funds to make this all possible.

Speakers:

Steven Donziger, internationally acclaimed human rights lawyer and nation's first corporate political prisoner.

Zanagee Artis, executive director and co-founder of Zero Hour.

Statement from Steven Donziger on Climate Defiance:

I want to express my deep support to all of the young leaders who have quickly made Climate Defiance one of the most effective climate justice advocacy organizations in the United States. The climate crisis is deepening; the pathway to save the planet must come from us the people. And in my opinion, we the people must now engage in disruptive activism -- that is, we must confront decision makers with the reality that the situation must change radically if we are to save life's ecosystems. I've been fighting the oil industry as a human rights lawyer for decades and I know a great organization when I see it. That's Climate Defiance. They do what is needed better than just about any group in the world. Climate Defiance has shown time and again the ability to execute effectively on the strategy of disruptive activism and to reach millions of people in the process. In short order, it has transformed how people think about what is possible with activism in this country. If you can, please reach deep and support this organization with what you can so they continue fighting for all of us and all species on this earth.
