Together, we’re transforming DC’s budget, policymaking process, and future! As part of the Fair Budget Coalition, you’ve been at the heart of this work—shaping and supporting our FY26 #ChooseUS recommendations, testifying, and taking bold action. Thanks to our collective efforts, we’ve made significant progress in pushing the Council toward a better budget than the harmful and unjust proposal from the mayor. But with key decisions still ahead, our advocacy remains critical.

There’s so much to celebrate—and some hard-fought losses that fuel our commitment to even more strategic and transformative work in the seasons ahead.

We will also honor the life and legacy of our beloved Steering Committee member, David Schwartzman, who passed away in early July, celebrating his unwavering passion for liberation and justice.

On Thursday, September 4th, join FBC staff and leadership at Hamilton DC for a special reception honoring you and our coalition. We’ll recognize outstanding member-leaders for their dedication and share space as a community united in the fight for equity, justice, and real change in DC’s budget.

Please join us for this event recognizing the hard work and engagement this budget season. To attend, each (non-coalition member) registrant is asked to make a small donation of a minimum of $25.00 though interested individuals can make donations in excess of the $25.00 dollar minimum donation by buying one of our supporter admission tickets with varying donation amounts ($50, $75, $100).

Donations received from attendees will go towards supporting the Fair Budget Coalition's Constituent Leadership Program (CLP). FBC’s Constituent Leadership Program was created to center the voices of DC residents who are impacted by racial inequity, poverty and systematic racism through a 10-month program training participants how to be effective advocates in their community.
