Produced by Food First in 1996 during Cuba's "Special Period" of austerity and adversity due to US imperialism, the short film describes everyday experiences of the Cuban revolution through the lens of green energy transition, food sovereignty, and ecological sustainability. Then as now, Cuba teaches us the lesson of resilience and the spirit of struggle.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with SftP member Sigrid Schmalzer, Professor of History of Science at UMass Amherst to discuss the concrete reality of socialist science and the intimate relations between science and revolution.

All proceeds of this ticketed event will be used to fund the transport of medical and lab supplies to Cuba in August 2026 organized by the National Network on Cuba. Please email us if you'd like to attend but cannot afford donating at this time.
