Join us for a one-day Trans Justice Organising Training in Gimuy (Cairns)! On the day you will learn about movement building and organising in a regional context, meet like-minded people, and explore how you can make a difference right here in your community.

We all deserve the freedom to be ourselves, but right now the trans and gender diverse community is under attack. Across Queensland and the country, people are stepping up and taking action. The Trans Justice Project has been working to build this movement nationwide, and they are coming to Gimuy to help us grow our strength, identify our priorities, and find our way forward together.

The work we do locally matters. By understanding the political climate we are in, and by organising here, we help build the momentum needed for change across the state and country.

At the training we will cover skills in strategy, building community power, organising actions, and how you can get involved locally while contributing to the broader movement.

*Free tickets are available if you cannot pay. Simply request one here.*
Lunch provided.
Ticket prices help us to cover the cost of food, travel, and materials.
People under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.

More information

This training is about taking action
Please note that we will be primarily focused on change-making. We will be discussing current campaigns, attacks on our community, and how we fight back.

Allies are welcome
Friends, family, and allies of the trans community are very welcome to attend and participate. However, this event centres trans experiences and perspectives. Allies are encouraged to ensure they make space for trans people in conversation, don’t assume people's genders/pronouns, and approach topics with curiosity.

Covid safety
If you feel unwell or have been a close contact of someone who has covid please do not attend. Trans and gender diverse people are at high risk of long covid and so extra care should be taken to ensure each other's safety. We encourage people to mask during the training and will provide hand sanitiser for attendees to use.

Accessibility
The venue is wheelchair accessible. You are welcome to leave or take space at any time if you feel anxious or overwhelmed. Fidgets, attention or mobility aids, and support people are welcome in the space (free entry available for support people). If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to the organisers.
