If you’ve ever been told to “handle it better,” “be more professional,” or “trust the process,” this session is for you. Workplace abuse usually doesn’t persist because of one bad boss — it persists because systems are built to protect power, not people.
In this hour, Deb Falzoi breaks down how ordinary workplace processes (HR, investigations, performance reviews, “professionalism”) can quietly gaslight, isolate, and retaliate against targets of abuse — and why so many survivors feel like they’re the problem.
More importantly, you’ll learn what actually helps: how to spot systemic red flags, protect yourself, document strategically, find allies, and turn individual harm into collective power. You’ll leave with clarity, validation, and a stronger sense of how we move from surviving toxic workplaces to changing the rules that make them possible.
Deb Falzoi believes all employees deserve dignity and respect at work for well-being. She helps employees define themselves according to their own values and has built a base of more than 15,000 workplace anti-bullying legislation supporters. She's helped hundreds of abused employees understand their abuse situations, discover their self-worth, and learn how to move on from their toxic work cultures. She's been quoted in numerous media outlets including Redbook, Forbes, Monster, and Truthout. She hosts the "Screw the Hierarchy" podcast, founded End Workplace Abuse, and co-authored the Workplace Psychological Safety Act.
