Liberation Takes Generations
Start: Sunday, December 11, 2016•05:00 PM
End: Sunday, December 11, 2016•07:00 PM
How do you build a movement where every Black life matters? Practice Makes Progress invites you to an evening of revolutionary conversation, learning, and solidarity, featuring Elle Hearns, Organizing Coordinator for Black Lives Matter National, and Ramona Africa, Minister of Information for the MOVE Organization. This will be a master class on grassroots organizing while Black.
Black women have always been leaders in the civil rights movement, but we don’t always know our sheroes’ names. Get the inside story on Black liberation, its history, and our future from this intergenerational, intersectional conversation among Black women in leadership. Through discussion and narrative, these two movement makers will share first-hand how to fight systems of oppression at the macro and micro levels -- including how to confront local governments and build strong partnerships with other organizers and community members.
Our history -- as Black people, as Americans, as social justice organizers -- resides in the stories of our leaders. Preserve Black liberation history: Join us at Liberation Takes Generations!
Liberation Takes Generations will be sign language interpreted in partnership with the National Alliance of Black Interpreters. A limited number of distance learning tickets are available for those unable to attend in person.
