Thank you for your interest in Greenville's second annual Mozart for a Cause!
After raising $2000 for Families Belong Together last season, we are gathering again in support of Planet Earth.
Planet Earth and its inhabitants are facing an unprecedented climate emergency, and we have entered a round of mass extinction of our own making. To complicate the matter, politics and science are interacting in a way that is unhelpful to survival. The climate crisis has become the most pressing issue of our time as we watch fires rage, floodwaters rise, and animals die. Up to 200 species face extinction daily, endangering biodiversity and our planet's health.
On March 2, volunteer musicians from the Greenville Symphony, Spartanburg Philharmonic, SC Philharmonic, and Converse College will donate their time and talent for Planet Earth!
All of Greenville is invited to this beautiful concert. Please join us, and if you can, help spread the word.
All proceeds will benefit One Tree Planted's Appalachia Project and the Clean Air Task Force.
*One Tree Planted focuses on reforestation and plants one tree per dollar given around the globe, including in our own backyard. Planting trees is one of the most helpful things we can do.
*The Clean Air Task Force is an NGO focused on technological and policy advancement required for a zero-emissions, high-energy, low-cost planet. They led a successful campaign to reduce pollution caused by coal-fired power plants in the US, helped limit the US power sector’s CO2 emissions, and helped establish regulations of diesel, shipping, and methane emissions. It's estimated that they avert one metric ton of CO2 per one dollar given.
The goal is to support both immediate results locally – trees! – and the big idea – emissions, technology, and policy for a sustainable future.
Our one-hour program will be fun and intimate, featuring Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals and a few surprises. Don't miss it. The bar will be open, along with a bake sale.
Special thanks to The Warehouse Theatre for the gift of space for this event.
See you on March 2nd!
