Jeju Lives! Lessons in Resistance, Then and Now (Teach-in and Fundraiser)
EDIT: We have sold out of online tickets but will have a few remaining at the door on a first come, first serve basis. Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket and we look forward to seeing you on the 12th!
🗓️ Date: Saturday, April 12
⏰ Time: 2-5 PM PT
📍 Location: 1610 Harrison St, Oakland, CA
Join us on Saturday, April 12 from 2-5 PM at East Bay DSA, where Nodutdol will be holding a documentary screening and teach-in exploring the legacy of Jeju-do in the history of Korean resistance, from the 4.3 Jeju Uprising to current-day struggles against militarization. We will be screening Gureombi, The Wind is Blowing, a documentary about the ten-year struggle against a joint US-South Korean naval base in Gangjeong Village.
This event is also a fundraiser, where all proceeds raised from admission tickets and donations will be used to fund the People's Summit for Korea and related activities. The summit, which will take place July 25-27 in NYC, will bring together organizers in the Korean diaspora and US with organizers in south Korea to strengthen and unify our struggle as one.
We hope to see you on April 12 for our teach-in and fundraiser! This event will also offer Korean food, pungmul (drumming), a fundraising raffle, and spicy *new* Nodutdol merch. Make sure to RSVP now to secure your spot! A few admission tickets will also be available at the door on a first come, first serve basis.
Access info: The event space will be accessible without stairs on the first floor and has two bathrooms. Masks will be required except when eating or drinking, and will be available onsite.
