Solidarity Sessions: Bristol
Join Right to Remain, Bristol Refugee Rights, and Bristol Refugee and Asylum Seeker Partnership (BRASP), for a day of workshops, building solidarity, and action planning.
We will use the day to think locally about the migration justice movement, and how we can build on current campaigns, and plan for new ones. The day will also provide an opportunity to connect with local grassroots organisations standing in solidarity with people in the asylum and immigration system, as well as local campaign groups.
We particularly welcome groups and individuals with lived experience of the asylum and immigration system.
Programme is still TBC, but you can expect to:
- Participate in Legal Education workshops, looking at the asylum system, the lack of legal advice, and how to give legal support safely
- Hear from Right to Remain's These Walls Must Fall campaigners on work they are doing on the ground, including recent demos against the Rwanda Act
- Hear from local Bristol partners on current actions
- Brainstorm and plan for possible future actions
- Connect and build solidarity with other groups and organisations in and around Bristol
We will also look at the current evolving Rwanda situation, and what we can do to respond and stand in solidarity with our communities.
Venue
The event will be held at The Trinity Centre, Trinity Road, Bristol BS2 0NW
Lunch
Unfortunately, we do not have a budget to provide lunch. Please bring lunch with you, or pop out during the break to grab something.
Tickets
We are asking any funded group, or organisation with paid staff members to pay a donation of £10 for a ticket. This covers vital staff costs and allows us to keep our public legal education free.
Any unfunded or voluntary group, or anyone going through the asylum or immigration system, does not pay for their ticket. Please email esther@righttoremain.org.uk, who will comp you a ticket.
To maximise reach, max 2 people per organisation can register.
Any questions, please get in touch.
