Join this workshop, jointly organised by Troublemakers At Work and Sheffield Transformed, aimed at trade union members who want to become more active in their union and develop their skills as organisers. You’ll receive practical guidance on protecting your rights, organising your workplace, and building campaigns. You’ll also have the chance to meet other trade unionists, ask questions and draw on our collective experience.
Interactive sessions will focus on:
- Starting workplace organising
- Developing trade union branches
- Introducing broader political activism into your union and workplace.
You’ll leave with a greater understanding of how workers can use our combined strength to fight for improved working conditions, better pay and fair treatment. By learning from past victories and sharing experiences, you’ll be better equipped to empower yourself and others at work.
Organisers
The event is co-organised by Troublemakers at Work and Sheffield Transformed. Troublemakers at Work is a UK-based grassroots network of rank-and-file trade unionists focused on empowering workers to organise, challenge union bureaucracy, and support industrial action. Sheffield Transformed is a group of socialists and trade unionists wanting to bring political education to Sheffield through discussion, arts, and culture.
Ticket Pricing
We want as many as people as possible to attend our events and don't want ticket prices to be a barrier. At the same time, we need to raise enough money to cover costs, such as hiring the venue, while also raising some funds to put towards expanding our movement. We've put together a sliding scale of ticket prices so that we can raise the money we need, without pricing anyone out.
When booking a place, we would ask that you select the ticket that you can afford. If you can't afford a £3 ticket, please contact us via sheffieldtransformed@gmail.com to make your booking. Free tickets are available for people with no recourse to public funds, workers on strike and people who have no disposable income at all.
