Join us for a screening of Shoot The People, a documentary capturing renowned photographer and activist Misan Harriman’s journey documenting global protest movements that drive social change, including Black Lives Matter and the struggle for Palestinian liberation. Following Harriman as he highlights the resilience of grassroots activists fighting for equality, civil rights, and social justice, the film showcases the intersectionality of these movements and their collective power. With historical context, interviews with activists, and explorations of digital activism, the documentary reveals how Harriman’s lens brings the world’s activism to light, inspiring viewers to recognize their own power in shaping a more just society.

After the film, we'll be joined by special guests for a panel discussion, including journalist and filmmaker Samira Mohyeddin, who will share her short film, Tik Tok's Israeli Soldiers, along with photojournalist Joshua Best, and Heidi Matthews, Osgoode Hall law professor and legal scholar who presented her research at the Gaza Tribunal.

There will be a bake sale offering sweet and savoury treats, as well as tickets to our popular art raffle. The venue offers bar service. Please bring one non-perishable food item to contribute to Community Fridges in the east end.

All proceeds from tickets and the bake sale will be donated to medical aid to Palestine through Glia, mutual aid for families in Gaza, the Toronto Community Justice Fund, and East End Acts. East End Acts for Palestine is a grassroots solidarity group made of community members from the Toronto-Danforth & Beaches-East York neighbourhoods, mobilizing to create political and social change.

If there is a financial barrier to purchasing a ticket, please email us at eastendacts@proton.me.
