Dr. Debbie Mixon Mitchell and the Soul 2 Soul Sisters Facing Racism Alumni program is making space for us to come together for a thought provoking 3-part online learning series to:
- Increase self-awareness and knowledge about the dynamics of race and racism at the internal (within self), interpersonal (interactions involving individuals), and institutional (at and among institutions) levels and
- Deepen capacity to recognize and disrupt racist attitudes and behaviors that occur all around us, every day.
Join us the third Tuesdays on Zoom
Jan 18, Feb 15 & March 15, 2022
5:00-7:00 pm MT
The 3-part learning series will involve three work sessions to allow alumni and guests to think deeply as we deconstruct and reconstruct real life encounters (situations/conversations) that left us feeling challenged or ineffective as an anti-racist. This is an opportunity for us to deepen our awareness and understanding of the ways white supremacy culture and anti-Black racism emerge in everyday situations to maintain some groups in positions of advantage and disadvantage others. We will focus on the personal and collective actions needed to disrupt racist attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, practices, and policies we encounter within our family, community, workplace, and congregations. The work sessions will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on the following Tuesdays:
- Work Session 1: January 18, 2022
- Work Session 2: February 15, 2022
- Work Session 3: March 15, 2022
**Please plan to attend at ALL THREE work sessions. Please only register for one person at a time.
Please come prepared to cultivate a sacred space as we engage in deep robust conversation, sharpen our personal and collective capacity for racial analysis, and develop additional tools for challenging personal, institutional, and systemic racism more effectively.
Note: These work sessions are designed for those who are beyond the introductory phase of one’s development/journey to become an anti-racist.
You are invited to submit a very brief description of an actual conversation or situation you encountered that left you feeling challenged or ineffective as an anti-racist. These submissions will provide the focus for our work. The form will be linked in the email you receive after you register.
