Governor Hochul: Pass the Build Public Renewables Act!
New York is on the verge of passing the nation's biggest climate bill the Build Public Renewables Act. When we do, we'll unleash the power of public funding, including through the IRA, to build publicly owned, 100% renewable energy, create a new era of green union jobs, slash rising energy bills for those who need it most, and make New York a global national leader in the fight to build a future we’d be proud to pass on to those to come.
Now, only one person stands in the way: Governor Hochul, who is trying to water it down in order to protect the for-profit companies who have kept New York stuck at just 4% wind and solar energy for four years straight. That's a fifth as much as Texas.
So let her know that New Yorkers won't settle for anything less than the climate leadership that we deserve. For the full Build Public Renewables Act. Because when enough of us make our voices heard, not even the most powerful can stop us.
How do we know? Well, it's how we got this close to making climate history in the first place. Will you take a few minutes to use our targeted call tool, and become part of it too?
