Canada is not neutral. It is arming Israel and the US war machine.

This month, we have a rare opportunity to put an end to the unregulated flow of weapons to the US that makes Canada a willing participant in American and Israeli war crimes.

In late February, Parliament will vote on Bill C-233 (the 'No More Loopholes' bill), which would amend Canadian law to ensure Canadian weapons and military components can no longer make their way to Israel through the US.

We need your help to ensure this bill becomes law!

Exposing the US Loophole

On November 18, a report from Arms Embargo Now exposed the dangerous gaps in Canadian arms export laws that allow Canadian-made weapons parts to be shipped through the U.S. and on to Israel or other conflict zones without oversight.

The No More Loopholes Bill

On November 19, NDP MP Jenny Kwan presented the No More Loopholes Bill (Bill C-233) in Parliament, in an effort to close these gaps. The bill would amend Canadian law to:

  1. Close the US loophole: End automatic exemptions for US-bound weapons.

  2. Treat parts like weapons: Military components face the same scrutiny as finished systems.

  3. Ban complicity in war crimes: Adopt international law prohibiting exports linked to genocide or crimes against humanity.

  4. End blanket permits: Require individual approval and human rights review for every export.

  5. Transparency: Require annual reports to Parliament on what Canada exports and where it goes.

Why our voice matters in Waterloo Region

In Cambridge, Centra’s PCC Aerostructures factory builds vital components for the F-35 fighter jets that Israel is using to bomb Gaza–and it is only one of six known businesses in Waterloo Region contributing to this weapons pipeline.

Weapons are being built in our own backyards. Waterloo Region is actively fueling the US war machine and genocide in Gaza. It is our responsibility to speak up, and put an end to this!

Then, text, group message, or email friends, family, coworkers, neighbours, and anyone in your community who may not be aware. Make sure they know about the report exposing the U.S. Export Loophole, and Bill C-233. Explain to them what you've learned and why it matters!

In an hour or two, you could...

Schedule a meeting with your MP

Request a virtual meeting with them. You can find their contact info here.

If you can secure a meeting, use it to demand accountability. Use the Exposing the U.S. Export Loophole report as leverage.

  • Name the harm clearly: your grief over Israel’s genocide in Gaza and your outrage at Canada’s continued complicity.
  • Force them to answer for the contradiction between what the government says publicly and what the evidence proves materially. Do not let them deflect.
  • Demand that they:
    • publicly support the No More Loopholes Bill (Bill C-233)
    • commit, on record, to voting YES in February

This is not a listening session - it’s a pressure point. MPs respond when they are forced to justify their choices directly to constituents.
