Notts People's Charter
People have the power!
Help kickstart the Notts People's Charter and join the movement for people-powered democracy.
Tired of politics? Us too.
The system is broken. Our needs aren't being met and our voices aren't being heard. But it can be different.
The Notts People's Charter is a set of demands for how power and democracy should work, written by the people who live here. It's not a list of fixes for one issue. It's about changing how decisions get made, so we can tackle all of them.
How it works
- Play the game. The People's Charter game is a fun, hands-on way for any group to work out how power and decision-making should work round here. No politics degree needed.
- Build your charter. Community groups, neighbours, clubs and organisations across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire each create their own set of ideas.
- Bring it to the city. In March 2027, we'll bring everyone's ideas together into one Notts People's Charter.
- Join a national movement. Notts is one of dozens of places across the UK writing a People's Charter. Together they'll feed into National Conventions in 2027, turning local demands into a campaign for people power.
Get involved
- Come to a session. Games, meet-ups and training are listed below, and we'll keep adding more. All free, all welcome.
- Run the game yourself. Our Train the Trainer sessions give you everything you need to take the game to your own group, with the Resolve Notts crew alongside you.
- Spread the word. Know a group that should have a say? Send them this page.
Who's behind it
The Notts People's Charter is a collaboration between Nottingham community groups, Resolve Notts and Our House.
Resolve Notts is a group of local people and organisations who care about Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. They campaign for fair funding of vital services, and for transparency, listening and collaboration with local people in how the city is run.
Our House is the new Chartist movement for people-powered democracy, supporting communities across the UK to write People's Charters and take them to the people in power.
