F Minus Oregon: Drop the Double Agents

Hold Fossil Fuel Lobbyists Accountable in Our State

Oregon is proud of its climate leadership — but behind closed doors, too many of our institutions are paying lobbyists who also work for the fossil fuel industry. These “double agents” take checks from organizations claiming to fight climate change and from the companies driving it.

This is a betrayal of public trust, and it weakens every piece of climate policy we fight for. F Minus Oregon is exposing these conflicts and organizing Oregonians to demand an end to fossil fuel lobbyist influence.

The Problem

Fossil fuel companies are experts at blocking climate progress. One of their most effective tactics is to hire the same lobbyists that work for environmental, community, and public institutions. This creates a direct conflict of interest — and ensures fossil fuel interests always have a seat at the table.

In Oregon, these conflicts exist in state agencies, nonprofits, and local governments. The result? Slower action, watered-down policies, and communities left on the frontlines of climate change without the protection they deserve.

Our Demand

We call on all Oregon organizations — from nonprofits to universities to public agencies — to:

  1. Stop hiring lobbyists who also work for fossil fuel companies.

  2. Disclose all lobbying relationships publicly.

  3. Sign the Oregon Climate Integrity Pledge committing to policy advocacy free from fossil fuel conflicts of interest.

Why This Matters

When polluters’ lobbyists sit in on both sides of a negotiation, climate policy gets compromised before it even reaches a vote. This isn’t just about politics — it’s about the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the stability of our climate.

If we remove fossil fuel influence from our institutions, Oregon can:

  • Pass stronger, faster climate policies.

  • Build trust in our public and nonprofit leadership.

  • Protect communities already facing climate disasters.

How You Can Help

1. Sign the Petition

Add your name to demand Oregon’s institutions drop their fossil fuel lobbyists. Your voice sends a clear message: Oregonians will not tolerate conflicts of interest that endanger our future.

2. Call Out Double Agents

If you’re part of an organization using a fossil fuel lobbyist, push for change internally. If you’re an individual, contact your city, county, and local organizations to ask if they employ lobbyists tied to polluters — and urge them to sign the pledge.

3. Spread the Word

Share this campaign with your friends, neighbors, and networks. Public pressure is the only way to force change.
