Oregon Climate Integrity Pledge
Oregon-based organizations and groups who care about climate.

Oregon is at a crossroads. We pride ourselves on bold climate action, environmental stewardship, and building a just future for all who call this state home. But too often, the same organizations that champion climate solutions are paying lobbyists who also work for the very fossil fuel companies driving the crisis.
This double-dealing — hiring “double agent” lobbyists — undermines public trust, weakens climate policy, and gives polluters a seat at the table where our future is decided.
We believe Oregon’s communities deserve leaders and institutions whose actions match their words. That means breaking ties with lobbyists who profit from both sides of the fight.
The Pledge
As an Oregon organization committed to climate justice and public trust, we pledge to:
End fossil fuel conflicts of interest
We will not employ, retain, or contract with lobbyists or lobbying firms who also represent fossil fuel companies or their trade associations.Advocate for policy integrity
We will work to strengthen lobbying transparency and conflict-of-interest rules in Oregon to protect our democracy and our environment.Stand with communities, not polluters
We will align our advocacy, funding, and partnerships with the urgent need to transition away from fossil fuels and toward equitable, clean energy solutions. Why Organizations Should Take This Pledge
- Protect credibility: Your members, supporters, and the public are watching — and they expect you to walk your talk.
- Lead by example: Taking this pledge positions your organization as a climate leader with integrity.
- Strengthen the movement: Cutting ties with double agents removes a key obstacle to bold climate policy in Oregon.
- Build trust: Transparency and accountability deepen relationships with the communities you serve.
When organizations hire lobbyists who also work for fossil fuel companies, they give polluters a direct channel to influence our laws, often behind closed doors. This is how climate solutions get watered down, delayed, or destroyed. Your role:- Ask your city, nonprofit, or professional association if they employ a fossil fuel lobbyist.
- Urge them to sign the Oregon Climate Integrity Pledge.
- Refuse to donate to or endorse organizations that won’t drop their double agents.
