A Call to Action for Fanta Bility: Community Meeting

Start: Saturday, December 04, 202112:00 PM

End: Saturday, December 04, 2021 3:00 PM

Delaware County's DA’s office recently published a press release that states 2 teens, Angelo “AJ” Ford (16) and Hasein Strand (18), are being charged as adults with first degree murder. They were shooting a block away from Academy Park High School and 3 Sharon Hill officers responded by immediately opening fire into a crowd and a moving car. Please note that the shots that were fired by these officers struck and killed 8-year old Fanta Bility. The names of the 3 officers involved are being concealed along with them not being charged. AJ’s and Hasein’s faces are being plastered across multiple headlines while no information has been released about the officers. The Grand Jury begun analyzing Fanta Bility’s case on Thursday, November 18, to decide if the officers opening fire was validated. This does not and should not change the narrative of how it was the officers’ bullet that struck and killed Fanta.

This is a call to action. On Saturday, December 4 beginning at noon, local organizations based in Delaware County, UDTJ and Delco Resists will be hosting a community meeting. Because the Southeast Delco School District has given us some issues when trying to secure Academy Park’s gymnasium as the location, we have decided to continue with or without their support. The meeting will still be held at Academy Park, whether it is inside or outside of the building.

We open the floor to all who attend to voice your concerns. Voice your opinions. Voice your feelings. This is an initial step to come together as one to help the Bility family seek justice. We must hold Sharon Hill Police Department accountable as well as Delco’s elected officials accountable. Join the discussion!

Although we are all having mixed emotions about the events that have transpired in Delco, we want this community meeting to remain peaceful.

In the meantime, please continue to sign and share Fanta’s petition! Over 3,000 signatures have been collected thus far and we are encouraging everyone to continue to share Fanta’s story!
