We will be meeting on Monday, September 14th, 7-9:00pm at Williams College (Exact location with RSVP), to discuss "Escape from Capitalism: An Intervention" by Clara Mattei, who will join us for a virtual Q&A at 8:30pm.

In “Escape from Capitalism,” Mattei explains how exploding inequality, financialization, monopolization, deregulation, and the corporate capture of politics are not aberrations, but predictable outcomes of capitalism itself. For that reason, her critique does not end with calls for better regulation or social-democratic reform, but with the need to transcend capitalism altogether: to abolish “the logic of profit” and build a society centered on “the logic of need.”

At around 200 pages, this is an accessible and deeply relevant introduction to Marxist anti-capitalist thought.
