#DaretoImagine Station: The Self-Determination Transporter
Start: Saturday, October 17, 2015• 3:30 PM
In collaboration with US Department of Arts and Culture (USDAC) NYC Field Office and the Week of #DaretoImagine, the Clinton Hill arts center JACK will host a pop-up imagination station during “afroFUTUREqu##r,” a performance weekend around Afro-futurism and utopian/dystopian visions of a queer Black tomorrow. In keeping with the theme of Afro-futurism, participants will be asked to time travel to the year 2035 and share a story of a time and place where they felt ’displaced’ in 2015 and what they did in response to it. They will write down these messages and drop it in the “Self-Determination Transporter Message Box”.
Join us as we exercise radical social imagination—envisioning the world we wish to inhabit, sharing those visions with the world, and sparking next steps to bring that future into being. At our Imagination Station you can take part in an array of creative activities, make new connections, and make your voice heard.
