December Rebellion Day 1

An action-free day of essential orientation and preparation. Ground yourself among fellow rebels. Equip yourself to participate in and support the disruptive and creative actions planned for 6 to 9 December. If you are new to XR, make some friends or chat with our friendly Welcoming Team.
Please come for the whole day so that we can all get to know and trust each other as much as possible. If you are unable to come for the whole day, aim for morning and afternoon OR afternoon and evening. Or whatever you can manage.
The day will include:

11am – 12.30pm – Core session: Welcome and Orientation

1.30pm Workshop: Action Skills for Everyone
This is an opportunity to understand what micro skills we all need for maintaining courage and nonviolence during actions. Presented by our De-escalation skills team, this workshop will include role-plays (optional!).
We will also practice walking in formation for our Disrupt the City actions and meet our Police Liaison and Arrestee Support co-ordinators.

8.30pm finish, tidy up. Drill Hall closes 9pm.
The Drill Hall will be our home base from 9am – 9pm Tues 5 – Fri 8 Dec.
How to get there. The Drill Hall is in the Melbourne CBD very close to the Queen Victoria Market(QVM). Swanston Street tram routes all stop at RMIT, a few minutes walk away, Elizabeth Street tram routes 19, 57 and 59 stop at QVM
Main entrance is at 26 Therry Street, just up from the Elizabeth Street corner. This entrance has five steps.
Level access is via the Victoria Street exit/entrance which unfortunately must be opened from inside the building. Please call Jane C on 0400 053 266 to request access. (Apologies for this clunky system).
Vegetarian and vegan food will be served daily.
You can do art-making! – block-printing, signs, T-shirt printing etc.
There will be a Regen area for resting, meditation and healing practice.
There will be a program of workshops through the week.
