Join the 40th Ward Dems for their Civic education series, Fireside Chats with the 40th Ward Dems: Making Sense of the State Budget. This new quarterly series focuses on civics and public processes in Illinois aiming to provide clear, accessible information to our community.
For our upcoming conversation on the state budget, panelists will walk attendees through the state-level budget process, from drafting to passage. Our goal is to combat misinformation by demystifying how government works and highlighting ways residents can engage through civic action.
Panelists:

About the 40th Ward Democrats
The 40th Ward Democrats is a neighbor-led political organization dedicated to increasing voter turnout and supporting candidates who embody our community’s values. As Democrats, we don't just express our values through voting, but also through direct action. Since our establishment in 2020, we have collected and donated over 1400 pounds of food, 200 winter coats and clothing, 40 boxes of diapers, 100 pairs of shoes and boots, and raised over $1000 to help our neighbors pay their bills. We are also dedicated to collaborating with local non-profits and other neighborhood organizations. We are committed to continuing these efforts and expanding on our completed work. We will be expanding our mutual aid drives during the winter of 2023-2024 to support our new neighbors temporarily living in police stations across the city.
