A day of reflection and conversation.

Join Rising Organizers on Saturday, July 18, for the final event of our DC Summer of Freedom Campaign. We'll begin with a free guided tour of the Frederick Douglass House, followed by our panel "Organizing for Democracy: Past Lessons and Future Imaginings". An intergenerational conversation featuring movement leaders and organizers exploring the role organizing has played in shaping American democracy, the current state of organizing in America, and offering hopes and recommendations for the future of organizing.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of their own role in advancing democratic change and collective power.

Our panel features:

  • Judy Richardson, Civil Rights Activist, Former SNCC member and SNCC Legacy Project Board Member
  • Bill Fletcher Jr., Labor Activist and Writer
  • Aaron Booe, Community Organizer at Rising Organizers
