Heatwave Safe Homes for Renters speaker event

Start: Thursday, November 02, 2023 6:00 PM

End: Thursday, November 02, 2023 7:30 PM

This summer is going to be extremely hot and Melbourne renters are baking in hot homes without being able to make even small alterations to make their homes safer and liveable.

Heatwave deaths are projected to double in Melbourne by 2050, and the coming summers will be the hottest of our lives. On November 2nd, we are hosting an event where we will hear from renters, advocacy groups and health experts about the risks of living in dangerously hot homes and what we can do about it.

Join us on November 2nd, 6pm at Trades Hall in Melbourne, and help us call on the Victorian Government to put solutions in place to prevent heat-related illness and deaths in our communities.

Too many Victorians are living in shoddy rentals with no insulation or air-con, and the need for homes that protect people from the heat has become increasingly urgent. Amid the continuing cost of living crisis, this event is a chance to not just talk about heat, but also the broader challenges faced by renters, including rising energy bills and home energy efficiency.

Please mark your calendars for November 2nd and share this event with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours. All are welcome. We look forward to seeing many of you there!

Please note that this event is free however spots are limited due to space availability so make sure to RSVP as soon as possible.
