Newark Mayor Ras Baraka is confirmed to join For the Many's rally at NJIT on Wednesday at 9:30 AM.
He’ll be speaking as Mayor, in his hometown of Newark, New Jersey's largest city, against tax cuts for the wealthy, in support of progressive revenue solutions, and to highlight how state and federal budget cuts would disproportionately harm low-income communities.
Who's coming:
Before the first NJ Senate Budget public hearing, join advocates, community leaders, and impacted residents to demand a fair, more resilient budget here in New Jersey.
Speakers and Participating Groups:
New Jersey Policy Perspective
New Jersey Citizen Action
Make the Road New Jersey
New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice
Climate Revolution Action Network
Fair Share Housing Center
Health Professional Allied Employees (HPAE)
Why we're rallying:
Governor Murphy’s proposed budget for 2026 includes much-needed revenue increases that could help prevent devastating cuts to schools, transit, healthcare, and other critical services—but we need to go further. Without more bold action, New Jersey faces cuts that will hurt working families and make our state unaffordable for all but the wealthy.
Let's stand up and tell our state leaders: NJ's quality of life should not be at the mercy of US Congressional Republicans' budget cuts and DOGE's tour of destruction that's wreaking havoc with key federal programs that millions of folks in NJ need.
Our best way forward: raise more revenues. Tax the rich and big corporations to pay their fair share. Keep investing in our people and communities.
