Migrant Townhall in St. John's - Elevate Voices, Challenge Power

Start: Friday, September 29, 2023 4:00 PM

Join us for an unprecedented gathering during Newfoundland and Labrador's first-ever Migrant Justice Week, hosted by the Migrant Action Centre (MAC) alongside other organizations in the province. We aim to create a platform for genuine dialogue and concrete action towards a more just society for migrants and their supporters.

Why You Should Attend:

  • Be Heard: Share your personal experiences and learn from the narratives of others.

  • Hold Power to Account: Engage directly with local politicians to voice your concerns and demand change.

  • Strengthen the Community: Participate in workshops and breakout sessions to forge stronger networks of solidarity.

  • Access Resources: Discover valuable information about legal rights, social services, and community support.

  • Shape the Future: Contribute to the collective vision for ongoing efforts in migrant justice.

Who is this for:

Migrant workers, students, families, refugees and refuge claimants, undocumented migrants, and all supporters are invited. You can submit your question (either anonymously or with your name), and the moderator will bring the questions forward to the panel.

Who will be on the panel:

We have invited politicians to this event to hold them accountable and ask questions pertaining to migrant justice. Seats have been reserved for the following politicians:

  • Andrew Furey, the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Tom Osborne, Minister of Health and Community Services
  • James Dinn, Leader of the Third Party
  • David Brazil, Leader of the Official Opposition

Don't miss this crucial opportunity to stand together for a more equitable community that recognizes the dignity and rights of all its members.
